PT STM is seeking a Community Relations and Development Coordinator to support communication, community relations, social impact management and the community development program of PT STM’s the Hu’u Copper Project on the Island of Sumbawa.

Position Title: Community Relations and Community Development Coordinator Dompu, Sumbawa Island (PT Sumbawa Timur Mining).
Position Level: Senior Staff

Position purpose:
The Community Relations and Community Development Coordinator will support communication, community relations, social impact management and the community development program of PT STM’s the Hu’u Copper Project on the Island of Sumbawa. The Coordinator will oversee the community and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans. The role will be roster-based, predominantly located on site (with a minor requirement to travel to Jakarta) to implement the community and stakeholder engagement plan on Hu’u Copper Project.



Role dimensions
General:
The position has three direct reports: Community Development Coordinator and two Community Relations Officers. The Community Relations Officers will work closely with exploration managers and teams on community relations and community engagement programs.


Specific:
The position will have input into community engagement, development and relations plans and budgets for the Hu’u Copper Project in Indonesia. The position may also support and provide input to social baseline and impact assessment studies.


Main challenges
Implement systems, programs and procedures and engage directly with concerned and interested members of the community to avoid serious community impacts and negative repercussions to PT Sumbawa Timur Mining exploration projects. All stakeholder engagement and community development activities must be implemented in strict compliance with Vale’s norms and policies (including anti-corruption/anti-bribery).


Main responsibilities
• Implement and revise exploration project procedures and plans to mitigate community impacts and mitigate risks
• Regularly advise the exploration project teams on measures to minimise potential community impacts
• Ensure that community engagement and consultation activities occur in accordance with project plans and strategies
• Ensure that all consultation events are recorded and reported in accordance with project requirements
• Manage the implementation of all community engagement related plans, procedures and reporting (e.g. grievance mechanisms, etc.)
• Ensure that on-site procedures are prepared and followed to prevent the impacts on items or relics of cultural heritage significance
• Support the preparation and implementation of community development programs and initiatives as part of exploration projects
• Regularly engage and consult with local communities in accordance with the project media
• Support and provide input to social baseline studies and impact assessments conducted as part of projects


Formal Education
• Bachelor Degree in Communication or Public Relations from a reputable university in Indonesia
• Strong proficiency in English (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate and report effectively to higher levels of management within the organisation


Work Experience
• Minimum of 15 years experiences in community relations or engagement on a major mining, infrastructure or energy project.
• Experience in delivering and maintain community and stakeholder engagement plans.
• Experience in sustainable development or community development.
• Experience working on major extractive industry projects in Indonesia.
• Knowledge of Indonesia legislation and community engagement/cultural heritage requirements.
• Able to build and maintain company reputation based on Company COC.
• Experience in providing a report to the management weekly, monthly and annually.
